THE FIRST “JIMMY” OVAL HOLE ARCHTOP GUITAR – 1977 – #53-987001 PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY ENGLISH GUITARIST AND COMPOSER GORDON GILTRAP
$2,500.00
In 1977 Hagström began in the first of the three runs of oval hole “Jimmys”. These instruments are the same materials and dimensions as the better known ‘F’ hole “Jimmy D’Aquistos” except there is one floating pickup and the controls are mounted on the pickguard to allow the top to resonate freely. As #1 out of the 251 oval hole Jimmy’s made, this is truly a collector’s instrument. In addition, it was purchased by John Haskin directly from the English guitarist and composer Gordon Giltrap whose ongoing career dates to the 1960’s. Mr. Giltrap authenticated that he owned the instrument. It is in excellent condition and has a period correct hard-shell case.
You will notice in the photos some dark streaks or marks in the wood. These are part of the original pieces of wood used and not cracks or flaws that happened after the initial construction.
John loved the archtop instruments and owning this one, as well as the last oval hole produced was a joy for him. I know John would be pleased to sell them as a pair: Make us an offer!
